The Capital City firm will get major branding on player uniforms

The San Antonio Spurs have entered into a multi-year deal for a new jersey sponsor with Self Financial.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Self Financial, an Austin-based company, will take over the uniform space that previously belonged to San Antonio financial institution Frost.

The partnership is Self’s first with a professional sports franchise.

“Our partnership will draw parallels between people looking to build credit and a talented young group on the basketball court committed to building a championship team,” Spurs CEO R.C. Buford said.

The Spurs will debut the Self-branded jerseys during the 2022 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, followed by the 2022-23 NBA preseason and regular season games. As a part of the deal, the Spurs will acquire an equity stake in the company.

“The Spurs have a reputation for being one of the most hardworking and community-focused teams in the NBA,” Self Financial founder and CEO James Garvey said. “We are humbled to have our logo on the Spurs jersey to represent our customers and everyone who is taking the steps to build their dreams.”

The Self brand will also be placed on Spurs warm-up shirts and Austin Spurs jerseys.

Self will also be prominently featured in Spurs broadcast and radio spots, and promotions, as well as San Antonio Spurs and Austin Spurs in-arena signage.

On June 23, Self will be the presenting sponsor for the Spurs’ 2022 NBA Draft festivities, which will include events in San Antonio and Austin.
